Welcome to Well-Being Abroad

I’m Danielle Gold, an experienced counselor providing support for English speakers living and traveling abroad. I hold a Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology from Goddard College in Vermont, as well as a Master’s degree in Poetics from New College of California in San Francisco, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in World Literature from Antioch College in Ohio. I have more than 30 years of international work experience in health, education, and business sectors, and am a United States Board Certified Counselor and Counselor Supervisor.

My international career began in my mid-twenties with a teaching position at a university on the Pacific Island of Tonga. I went on to teach in Vanuatu and in California before becoming the director of a development project in Ghana, West Africa in 1990, where I built preschools and trained early childhood education teachers. I found like-minded people in the international expatriate community and have continued to work and travel around the world ever since. My son was born abroad and when he was five I started Fearless Planet (www.fearlessplanet.org), an NGO dedicated to empowering low-income women through economic advancement. I have designed, coordinated, and implemented projects in Ghana, Liberia, Argentina, and most recently with refugees in Greece.

My background in counseling includes working as a K-12 school counselor in Ghana, Argentina, China, and the US, and since 2016 as the director of student counseling at medical schools on the Caribbean Islands of Nevis, Antigua, and Saba. I started my online consultancy in 2013 as international clients I was seeing in my Buenos Aires office began moving away and wanted to continue working together. I found that I could deliver the same quality of care online with flexibility and continuity. My private practice is now fully online, enabling me to reach more clients globally and pursue my own international interests.

I’ve lived and worked abroad through many life stages; as a young single woman, a multi-cultural couple, a family, and most recently as an empty-nester. I understand the issues nomads, expats, and travelers can face, and can help you navigate the complexities of your life.

I look forward to working with you!
